The ASNLF (Acheh Sumatra National Liberation Front) was founded in 1976. The movement's aspirations are quite simple and non-negotiable: a fully independent State of Acheh. The ASNLF has pursed its political aspirations not only on the battlefield, but also by participating in an internationally brokered peace process. Unfortunately, this process has, for the time being at least, totally collapsed.
